Deciding what tattoo to get is a huge decision. The same can be said about choosing who does your tattoo. I you end up getting a tattoo done at a lower quality tattoo shop then you could end up unhappy and in regret. Your tattoo could end up with an infection or it could turn out not quite like the tattoo design you walked in thinking you were getting.

The first thing you need to do is find out how long that tattoo shop has been open. This will give you an idea of how much quality business they get. If the tattoo shop does not have very good quality they will not be open for long. After that make sure that the tattoo artist doing your tattoo is licensed and the shop is clean with sterilized equipment. The tools need to be cleaned after each tattoo. A clean environment is one of the most important things to consider in your decision to get a tattoo there. If there are not licensed, clean, and professional, don't risk it. There is a reason why the top tattoo shops charge more money. This is one reason.
Look at more than one tattoo studio. Once you get an idea other how they all operate you can figure out which one you want to get your tattoo done at. You don't need to rush your decision, you can always come back later. If the shop you decide on is clean when you first go there, when you come back for your tattoo make sure that it is still in the same sanitary condition.

Show that tattoo artist the design that you want to get. They should not try to talk you out of it. The can give you suggestions to make you tattoo design look better but they should never try to talk you out of the design. Ask your tattoo artist questions. Find out how long they have been doing tattoos and ask to see some of their work so you know the quality you can expect.
Lastly, don't rush into anything you don't want to do. Look at many tattoo designs before you get the one you think you want. You could end up with a tattoo that you will regret later on down the road. Tattoos are permanent and last forever, unless you get the tattoo removed, so take your time and make sure it is a design that you really want and has meaning to you.
